Tour Itinerary |
Day 1: Vancouver
Upon arrival in Vancouver, pick up your rental car and check in at your downtown hotel location for the next two nights. Surrounded by water and nestled alongside the Coast Mountain Range, Vancouver is home to spectacular natural surroundings and many world-class attractions.
Day 2: Vancouver
Spend the day to visit the sights & attractions of Vancouver including Stanley Park, the vibrant shopping district along Robson Street, historic Gastown, Chinatown, Stanley Park and the Capilano Suspension Bridge. A tram ride on the top of Grouse Mountain offers incredible views of the city.
Day 3: Vancouver - Whistler
Drive on the scenic Sea-to-Sky Highway towards Whistler. Stopover at Shannon Falls & Garibaldi Provincial Park. Time to explore Whistler – base of the 2010 Winter Olympics – with its many shops, restaurants and bars. A trip to the top of Whistler/Blackcomb Mountain offers unparalled views of the Coast Mountain Range.
Day 4: Whistler - Tyax
Continue on the remote Hurley River gravel road to the first class wilderness lodge near Gold Bridge, located in the heart of the Chilcotin Mountains. Nestled on the shores of Tyaughton Lake the lodge offers a wide array of activities: horseback riding, fly-fishing, mountain biking or ATV touring into alpine meadows. Lodge amenities are: sauna, outdoor hot tub, restaurant and bar.
Day 5: Tyax – Clearwater
While travelling through the mountains along the Duffy Lake Road you will leave the wet coastal forests and abruptly enter the rain shadow of British Columbia's interior. Hardy pine trees and sagebrush replace the towering fir trees of the west coast. This is still real Cowboy Country with large cattle ranches.
Day 6: Wells Gray Park
Wells Gray is known as the waterfall park as there are over 250 waterfalls located within the area. Take a day trip into the pristine beauty of Wells Gray Park and hike to Dawson Falls and the spectacular Helmcken Falls - Canada's fourth highest waterfall. If you are here in July/August don’t miss the flower meadows of the Trophy Mountain region.
Day 7: Clearwater – Mt. Robson
Travel north to Valemount, a small village nestled within three mountain ranges; the Rockies, the Monashee - and the Caribou Mountains. The superb scenery in the park makes it an excellent site for hikers, climbers, and backcountry enthusiasts.
Day 8:
Mt. Robson - Jasper
At Tete Jaune Cache hike to the Rearguard Falls where you can see salmon attempting to leap the falls. On your way to Jasper you pass Mt. Robson, the tallest mountain of the Canadian Rockies and the origin of the mighty Fraser River. Watch for abundant wildlife along the road.
Day 9: Jasper National Park
Jasper National Park is located admist the most beautiful wilderness of the Rocky Mountains. Visit Maligne Canyon and glacier-fed Maligne Lake. From here take a cruise to Spirit Island. The top of Whistlers Mountain promises the best views of the rockies.
Day 10: Jasper – Golden
One of the world's greatest mountain highways - the Icefields Parkway - offers outstanding views and excellent wildlife viewing. Mandatory stopovers should include the Columbia Icefield, Sunwapta Falls, Peyto Lake and the famous towering Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise Hotel. Continue your journey through Yoho, Revelstoke and Glacier National Park to Golden.
Day 11: Golden – Radium
From glacier-clad peaks along the Continental Divide to the dry grassy slopes of the Columbia Valley, where even cactus grows, Kootenay National Park is an area rich in variety. Spend the day hiking in the park or visit the hot springs pools near Radium Hot Springs.
Day 12: Radium - Banff
A day to relax. The area around Radium Hot Springs provides excellent Golf Courses, Spas and Heritage Interpretive Programs. Travel on the Banff-Windermere Highway 95 km to Banff National Park. Stopover at Johnstone Canyon who provides one of the most popular hiking trails within the Canadian Rockies.
Day 13: Banff
As part of the UNESCO Rocky Mountain Park, Banff National Park offers spectacular mountain scenery and many natural attractions. Visit today the Upper Hot Springs, Cave & Basin Centre, Bow Falls and the Hoodoos or play a round of golf in front of the majestic Banff Springs Hotel. Well worth is the gondola ride to the Top of Sulphur Mountain for an amazing mountain view.
Day 14: Banff - Calgary
It is time to leave Banff National Park and the Rocky Mountains. Take the Trans-Canada-Highway towards Calgary. Return your rental car. End of tour.
