Chilcotin Mountain Heli-skiing Excursion
Our Heli-skiing Operation is located in the magnificent Chilcotin Mountains, just 65 miles northeast of Whistler and provides you with the perfect combination of luxurious accommodation in a beautiful and remote mountain lodge and some of the world’s most exciting heli-ski terrain. To the west lies a vast expanse of glaciers, remnants from the Ice Age, which still cover hundreds of square kilometers. To the east lies the rolling, dry Fraser Plateau. We operate in the transition zone providing the best of all worlds — magnificent mountains, an abundance of dry powder snow and plenty of sunshine. To date we have in excess of 300 heliskiing runs in an area of 830,000 acres. Our average annual snowfall at 5,900 feet is approximately 45 to 60 feet. The variety of terrain includes high alpine glaciers and challenging tree skiing, all with a backdrop of jaded and awe-inspiring peaks. These runs truly provide the most exhilarating heli-boarding available in the world! Our packages guarantee a certain amount of vertical footage depending on the tour. The average footage skied per week is approximately 130,000 vertical feet. Our guides are chosen not only for their guiding skills and qualifications, but also for their enthusiastic and outgoing personalities. They are professional guides who have passed a series of comprehensive examinations to qualify them as members of the A.C.M.G. and the U.I.A.G.M., the recognized Canadian and International Mountain Guide Associations. They are experienced at balancing exciting and challenging skiing with the safety and enjoyment of the entire group. Nowhere in the world is the combination of terrain, weather, temperature and snow conditions as ideal for helicopter skiing and snowboarding as in the numerous unpopulated mountain ranges of British Columbia.
Tour Itinerary
We meet all guests at the Pan Pacific Hotel in Downtown Vancouver or Whistler for the transfer to our lodge and heli-ski base. Upon arrival at the lodge, you will attend an informal welcome session to meet the crew and to run through the daily schedule. A delicious buffet breakfast is served each morning at 7:30 a.m. One of our guides informs you of the day's weather forecast, snow conditions and specific departure times for each group. On your first day of skiing, your guide will instruct you on the use and care of the electronic Avalanche Transceiver. Everyone has an opportunity to practice several searches. Afterwards, you meet your pilot at the helicopter and go through a helicopter safety briefing. The first groups in each helicopter depart the lodge daily at 09:15 am. Lunch is a relaxed outdoor picnic-style affair in the mountains. Enjoy a hearty lunch of home-made soup, sandwiches and dessert, accompanied by hot and cold drinks. After a full day of skiing join your guides, group or new friends at 19:00 pm in the dining room for dinner. Beer, wine and spirits are available. The group's daily vertical is also posted at this time. Enjoy the many amenities of our unique mountain lodge. Let yourself be pampered with delicious meals and relax in the Cowboy Bar or in front of the huge river-rock fireplace. On the last day of skiing and snowboarding you will depart at approximately 16:30 pm from the lodge and arrive back in Vancouver at approximately midnight.
